The Renaissance of Resilience: The Key to Thriving in the Face of Challenging Times
Episode 10 (Airdate: November 23) “The Renaissance of Resilience” –Speakers Amy Johnson, Ph.D., and Mahima Shrestha
“The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.”
–Martin Luther King
How is it that adversity quite often is the impetus for transformation and the awakening of our innate resilience? For most of us, our innate true self is covered from view until we are challenged by a life crisis. In order to cope, we must rise to the occasion and in so doing, we discover our inner strength. How is it that that resilience, our birthright remains hidden until something or someone “wakes us up”?
In today’s world of uncertainty—the challenges of pandemics, financial and economic uncertainty, climate change and disasters, divisive politics, and the breakdown of our institutions –- we can’t predict the future with any confidence or control the demands on our time and energy. Our internal resilience is the key to not only dealing with the increased pressure, but also to thinking insightfully and responsively to any challenge. A clear head and a calm mind makes us more intelligent, creative, and productive. We think smarter, not harder.
–Joe Bailey, “Thriving in the Eye of the Hurricane” Now available in Paperback, Kindle, and Audio!
